La Cabaña
de Juanita y Maria
We are Juanita and Maria, two sisters, and we worked for a long time in the hotel industry in Acul: cleaning rooms, preparing food, informing and assisting guests and much more.
Gradually, we learned how to run a hotel and restaurant ourselves. We took time to construct our own place in Acul, a hamlet near Nebaj: ‘La Cabaña de Juanita y Maria’. We became operational in early 2022.
The restaurant can accommodate groups as well as couples and individuals who want to relish a lovely and typical meal in a nice setting. You can just drop by or make a reservation.
The fresh tortillas with Chancol cheese are part of every dish. The cakes are baked on site and are delicious for dessert. Baked to take away on request.
The cottage (cabin, cabaña) is located in Acul, a village near Nebaj in the Ixil Triangle. Acul is a beautiful and authentic village, where they wear the traditional folk costume.
Many women maintain the tradition of weaving the typical huipiles in their homes.
There are many hiking possibilities in the mountains. The walk to Nebaj is highly recommended! With a local guide you can make different tours.
